History

Peter Rabbit is a 1979 CSY 44 Walkover.

She was built in Tampa Florida by the CSY Yacht Corporation, 5250 West Tyson Ave. Tampa Florida 33611 and launched on April 5, 1979. Her first owner Dr. Jorge Tapia of Las Rozas, Madrid Spain, titled the vessel in their Spanish based film company Easter Island LTD. Her original purchase price was $109,941.

The Tapia’s young daughter was a Peter Rabbit fan and as such they christened their new CSY "Peter Rabbit III"

Captain Raymond Perry was contracted to deliver Peter Rabbit to Banus Spain via Hamilton Bermuda/Horta Faial Azores/Gibralter Spain/Banus Spain. There she stayed for nine and a half years.

On September 23, 1987 she was sold in Madrid Spain to Gerald S. and Judy Jones . Gerald and Judy sailed the Med for several years before crossing the Atlantic to cruise throughout the Caribbean.

After five years of cruising Gerald and Judy sold Peter Rabbit on April 9, 1993 to Kathy Barron and Tom Wood of Vero Beach Florida. Kathy and Tom moved Peter Rabbit to St. Petersburg Municipal Marina. Kathy Barron and Tom Wood published in 1994 and 1995 a series of articles in Cruising World documenting several upgrades.

On December 23, 1996, after owning her for three and a half years Tom and Kathy sold Peter Rabbit to her current owners Paul and Rosemary Barbour of Clearwater, Florida.

Paul and Rosemary kept the name Peter Rabbit in tradition with all the other owners. “It felt right to continue with the name a little girl so many years ago gave her.” Paul and Rosemary truly love Peter Rabbit and have refit her installing extensive upgrades.
